Abstract

Vultures are nature's most successful scavengers and they provide an array of ecological, economic and cultural services. As the only known obligate scavengers, vultures are uniquely adapted to a scavenging lifestyle. In the present review we critically analyzed distribution pattern, feeding status, habitat selection, breeding patterns and dynamics of the vulture population. The study suggested that there is an urgent need to protect the nesting sites for vulture breeding and austere use of drugs to maintain the population dynamics.
